(VIDEO) On the path to mastery
BACKSkills in adeptly handling small boats are achieved through practice.
Over the course of several weeks at the Maritime Border Guard Training Center, border guard sailors underwent training as "Engineer helmsmen of a Border Cutter" using a training simulator. The military personnel learned to operate boats using a helm.
The task of the helmsmen was to maintain the specified course, control steering mechanisms and systems, maneuver and control movement, and observe the surface situation of the designated border area.
It is worth noting that all responsibility is placed on the specialist at the helm. Therefore, the expert needs to be particularly attentive, able to identify engine malfunctions by the sound character, clearly orient themselves by instruments, and make important decisions quickly in dangerous conditions.
